The collection contains 282 glass plate negatives documenting arctic exploration and Inuit culture in the early 20th century. Ships shown include the Bear, Corwin, and North Star. Individual and group shots of scientists, "Copper Eskimos," and Inuit peoples include images of Charles D. Brower, Fritz Johansen, Charles Klinkenberg, Vilhjalmur Stefansson, and Storker Theodor Storkerson. Illustrated locations in Alaska include Collinson Point, Flaxman Island, Fort Yukon, and Tanana; in the Northwest Territories, Bernard Harbor, Cape Bathurst, and Victoria Island; in the Yukon, Herschel Island; in Greenland, archaeological digs at Osterbygd. Also included are images of Stefansson's 1923-24 trip to Australia and many aerial photographs. Principal photographers are George Hubert Wilkins and the Lomen Bros.

Storkerson was born in Norway in 1883. He was a member of the Anglo-American Arctic Expedition of 1906-1907, which was commanded by Ernest de Koven Leffingwell and Ejnar Mikkelsen, and a member of Stefansson's 1908-1912 expedition to eastern Alaska. Vilhjalmur Stefansson was born on November 3, 1879 in Arnes, Manitoba, Canada. He attended the University of North Dakota from 1897-1902.
